The big buildings-malls, markets, universities, but not to mention small but scattered nightclubs around the city sound rich and light. The parks, caves, mountains, manmade shrines and sculptures and other sceneries around the cities do paint a picture perfect of the place. However, to tell the truth about painting is to tell its whole side. Behind the pictures of buildings and parks are shadows of crowd; behind the hills and mountains are houses, trafficked cars and other industrial things. And behind those empty spaces around are smog and unwanted air.

Certainly, urbanization offers so many opportunities to citizens. Those gigantic and almost high rocketing malls offer jobs to people. They sell goods and services which many tourist and citizen themselves are interested in. Not to mention many universities that offer academic advancement and excellence and professional growth to both Filipinos and to foreign students. Furthermore, families and friends get to bond and greet each other, credit to the parks and other recreational places. And still the innovation of hot spots encourages and arouses many people to visit the place which gives the place a pride.

Over the past years, people in the rural areas leave their agricultural lands in exchange of the promises of urban life. They think of the chances of having a better life in the city because there are lots of establishments that will offer jobs and services.  But little did they know, they are left to do the dirty and low salary jobs, or yet, exchanging jobs in search for something that could suffice their wants.

Even though there are lots of businesses in the cities, if they can’t accommodate the increasing number of people, there will be an inadequacy of services and jobs that is offered, therefore, the unemployment rate will increase too.

Its a little bit cliché, but one more problem concerning uncontrollable urbanization in the cities is on the environmental concerns that affect the health of every individual. Many transportation tools will be purchased, factories and establishments will be built that give jobs to people but alongside contribute pollution not only in air but also on land and water. Cars and factories use engines and fuels that when burned, it will produce vast amount of carbon monoxide in the air that when even plants and people inhale it will trigger their respiratory system.

Urbanization of cities requires higher responsibility especially to the government officials who are expected to rule and to lead. But as a citizen who live the same city or yet world, the only thing to do is to follow every law set by officials such as the use of paper bags instead of cellophanes when purchasing dry goods. Cars must have to use the proper fuels that have light smokes. In simple word, urban places doesn’t give us everything that we need, sometimes our life in rural areas that we are used to can at least give us everything that we want.
