I. Introduction
The song “TsinelassaPutikan” is written by Aristotle Pollisco or known by stage his name Gloc-9. He is an award winning Filipino Rapper.
“TsinelassaDilim” was performed not only by Gloc-9 but also with the accompany of Marc Abaya.
II. Deconstruction
a. Structure
Poor and Rich People/Class
The song “TsinelassaPutikan” portrays the situation of the poor class/squatter and how they were oppressed by someone who are in the higher class or rich.
From the line “barong-barong, patong-patong,buloknabahay, kalong-kalong” it shows a place where poor people live.
b. Marginalization
1.
“Barong-barong, patong-patong
Buloknabahay, kalong-kalong
Ng lupang ‘di saamin
Sako-sakongdasal ‘wag palayasin
Halo-halongmgasanananagkadikit-dikit”
Buloknabahay, kalong-kalong
Ng lupang ‘di saamin
Sako-sakongdasal ‘wag palayasin
Halo-halongmgasanananagkadikit-dikit”
From these lines, it shows that the persona is living in a squatter area wherein houses were rotting and highly dense and not that concrete. The land where they build their houses is not their own land and they are praying or insisting that they will not be forced to leave the place where they are living.
2.
“Tinatapakan, pinupulaan
Sinabihankanabanahanggangd'yankanalamang”
Sinabihankanabanahanggangd'yankanalamang”
It is well said that the persona is showing that they were being oppressed or being discriminated through “tinatapakan” or they were being stepped on or being criticized (pinupulaan) by the rich people.
Moreover, from the line “Sinabihankanabanahanggangd'yankanalamang”, can be explained into two negative perceptions. First, the people who are oppressing them are saying that “you were born poor, and you will forever be poor” and secondly, they are setting limitations on the poor class like maybe poor people cannot step on their grounds, cannot touch their things and many more.
3.
“Tilakumupasna'ngmgaguhit-guhitsamgapalad…” it shows that these poor people are really working hard for their living that even their hands got callus. “…anghiling ay hindimadinig-dinig”, and they are asking for help in the government but no one is responding for their demand.
4.
“Maramingnakaharangkahitmagsabingparaan…”, the line portrays that the poor people were being known as poor so they have no right to pass through or try to reveal what they thought because there are boundaries set by others. Like, even though there are really ways for the government to supply their needs, there are some who are in position who redirect the help to other things like for themselves only.
c. Empowerment
1.
“Ilakadangtsinelassaputikan
Humakbangkahitnamahirap”
Humakbangkahitnamahirap”
“Putikan” or muddy place is commonly associated with the workers or of low occupations.
From these lines, the persona is trying to make an action that will solve whatever problem they have even though there is hardness in doing so.
2.
“Iyongmgapaa'ymadudumihan
Palatandaanngpagsusumikap”,
Palatandaanngpagsusumikap”,
These lines affirms that the persona is doing something maybe to elevate their living.“Paa’ymadudumihan” represents that whatever it takes or whatever happens to them, they will still continue to strive for their living, or to solve any problem from them.
3.
“Bumangonsahamon…”, it shows that whatever challenges that they have in life, they will face it. ‘Lalaban at hindikanapapayagmagpaagossaalon” and they will be stronger and will fight for their rights as not just be following whatever other people dictates to them.
